An official sod turning ceremony has been held near the Elementary School “National Hero Savo Ilic” in the settlement Dobrota today to mark the beginning of the works to be implemented within the “Water Supply and Sanitation Adriatic Coast V1, Immediate Measures” Project.

The Vice-Mayor of the Municipality of Kotor, Mr. Milivoje Samardzic asked for the patience of both parents and pupils, because the works will be partially implemented in a heavy traffic area and very narrow street leading towards the above-mentioned school, where it is already difficult to provide smooth traffic flow.

He praised cooperation with Vodacom and the Contractor which has a 15 year cooperation with the Municipality of Kotor.

According to Mr. Safet Lukovic, General Manager of “doo. Vodovod i Kanalizacija” Kotor, "Water Supply and Sanitation Adriatic Coast V1” is one of the most important infrastructure projects in this year“. He announced the other works on almost entire territory of this municipality.

Technical Director of ViK Kotor, Mr. Velemir Dragic, stated that the major part of this project is related to the replacement of the water supply network, like in the previous project phases.

The responsible person on-site, Mr. Vojislav Jovic, an engineer, stated that this project presents a great challenge for Jedinstvo.

"We will make every effort to meet the deadlines", stated Mr. Jovic, and added that Jedinstvo has already implemented two projects in Kotor, and many more in Montenegro.

The works within the Contract for the Municipality of Kotor will involve:

-Construction of the secondary and tertiary water supply network with reconnection of households in the settlements St. Stasije, section from the market Idea to the Psychiatric hospital, settlement, Daosine and “industrial zone” in Kotor.

- Improvement of the control and maintenance of the water supply system in Kotor.

The total value of the Contract with Jedinstvo is Eur 734,704.00, and it will be financed from KfW’s loan funds, i.e. from the GoM grant in the amount of Eur 602,000.00, while he own contribution of the Municipality of Kotor amounts to Eur 132,704.00.

The implementation consultant for this contract is the consulting company Fichtner from Germany.

The Contract will be implemented in accordance with FIDIC and KfW procedures. Project implementation it will be coordinated by Vodacom, as the Project Executing Agency (PEA) for the overall “Water Supply and Sanitation Adriatic Coast“ Programme.
