Representatives of KfW Development Bank, involved in the Water Supply and Sanitation Adriatic Coast Project, Ms Clara Winkler-Tomety, Project Manager, Mr. Dirk Vallerien, Principal Engineer, and Mr. Kirk Mildner, Head of Division Municipal Infrastructure and Transport Southeast Europa and Turkey, paid their mission to Montenegro from 18 to 21 February 2019.

The first day of this mission was aimed at visiting the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Herceg Novi, where KfW representatives met the Employer of this project, i.e. representatives of Drustvo za izgradnju vodovodne i kanalizacione infrastukture u opstini Herceg Novi and representatives of Vodacom as the PEA.

On 19 February, KfW representatives had meetings with the Municipality of Herceg Novi, regarding the status of the project for the construction of the WWTP as well as the water supply and wastewater network in Herceg Novi, and with the Municipality of Tivat and the Municipality of Kotor regarding the status of the re-cultivation/rehabilitation of dumpsites using sludge from the WWTP, and the current status of the joint WWTP for Tivat and Kotor.

On the third day of their mission representatives of KfW held meetings with representatives of the Municipality of Ulcinj, followed by a meeting in the Municipality of Bar. Consulting company in charge for the preparation of the location study for the future WWTP in Bar, the company Fichtner from Germany, gave a presentation for representatives of KfW, the Municipality of Bar, ViK Bar, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism and Vodacom, elaborating the preliminary findings of this study.

KfW mission was aimed at conducting its regular monitoring of the performance of works within the ongoing projects, and determining the strategy for overcoming possible issues, as well as the continuation of preparatory activities for future projects that are currently in the initial stage of implementation.
